Jaina’s philosophy is realistic and relativistic pluralism. As per Jaina’s Anekantvada, there are many realities and their innumerable qualities. It is metaphysical side which is called Anekantvada while epistemological side , it is Syadvada. Both are the two sides of the same coin.
It is said by the Jaina’s philosophy that it is not possible for ordinary person like us to know all realities and their all innumerable qualities. Only ‘kevali’ can know all qualities of the realities. We can know only some aspects of realities from particular point of view. In this sense our knowledge is partial and relative in nature. On the basis of that we make judgement that is partial and conditional but not valid because context is not clear. To make this judgement valid, we use ‘Syat’ before the statements. In this way there are seven type of judgement , that is as following:”Saptabhanginaya”
1)syat asti 2)syat nasty 3)syat astica nastyca 4)syat avaktyam 5)syat astica avaktyamca 6)syat nastica avaktyamca 7)syat astica nastica avaktyamca
