Faith is the most crucial, fundamental and significant tenet of the religious life. Faith is happens to be a sufficient and necessary condition of religious life.
Reason is the internal rational power of persons. It is different from the notion of feeling and emotion etc. For proper understanding of the world reason plays very important role. Reason is one of the various sources of religious knowledge.
From the religious point of view, we can see two types of relation between faith and reason:
1)It is generally accepted by the Augustine, Aquinas that the religion is based upon the Holy scriptures and faith is must towards this Holy scriptures. Here the work of reason is to counter the allegations of others which can create the problem in faith as well as reason is important to understand the words written in scriptures.
    2) It is also accepted that reason shows the path of faith. It is logical that finite beings cannot know the infinite being.

However, there are criticism on this like reason is based on observation and scientific values whereas faith has no such criteria, which make them contradictory in nature. And moreover, reason is not directly related to the reason.
